New Superintendent Announcement

It is with great excitement that the Roselle District 12 School Board announces that Dr. Mary Henderson will become our new superintendent succeeding Dr. Melissa Kaczkowski on July 1, 2019. Dr. Henderson comes to District 12 from Elmhurst District 205 where she was the Associate Superintendant for Learning and Leadership Development and received her doctoral degree from Aurora University with a concentration in curriculum and instruction. After a very rigorous search that led to 6 highly qualified candidates being presented to the board, the field was narrowed through 1st and 2nd round interviews, not only with the full board but separate meetings with administrative staff and teachers. It became clear to the board that Dr. Henderson was the leader District 12 needs to continue and accelerate the tremendous progress that has been made over the last 5 years.

While we have brought the superintendent search process to a close we want to recognize and publically thank some individuals that made the last several weeks possible. First JoAnn Dumelle, District Administrative Assistant who scheduled candidates, organized board communications and agendas and stayed beyond the school day to make our meetings run smoothly. Next, thank you to the administrative staff and teachers who met with candidates and provided candid and relevant points of view that were critical in our decision making process. And finally to the board members for their time over successive days and some very late evenings that were filled with good debate and consideration that led to hiring our new superintendent.

As Dr. Kaczkowski’s time with District 12 comes to an end, the board would like to thank her for her dedication to the district over the last 5 plus years. Through her vision she led the district through a financial crisis that culminated in passing a referendum that allowed our buildings to be updated during the summer of 2018. She also recognized that to be a best in class district we needed to hire the right administrators to guide curriculum and finance. Those individuals are in place and our district is healthy. While the district worked through its issues financially, she never lost sight of the fact that our curriculum needed continued investment so that our children were prepared to leave our district for high school. Thank you, Dr. Kaczkowski, for your leadership, your vision and your dedication to the children and staff of Roselle District 12. You were at the right place at the right time and we wish you continued success.
